How to nominate a veteran for a wheelchair ramp or deck

What to include in a Decks4Vets nomination, who can submit, and what happens during the review.

Who can submit

A veteran can nominate themselves. A family member, friend, neighbor, or community organization can submit with the veteran’s permission. Decks4Vets is beginning in Ohio and nearby communities in eastern Indiana, western Pennsylvania, southern Michigan, and northern Kentucky.

Tell us what is difficult today

You don’t need a drawing or a material list. Tell us their city or town, whether a ramp, landing, or outdoor gathering space would help, and what using that space could make easier. First name and last initial are enough to start. Please leave out exact addresses, diagnoses, and military documents.

What happens after you send it

A nomination starts a review. We consider the need, property permission, location, site conditions, available resources, and whether the work can be built. We will follow up if we need more information. A nomination does not guarantee selection or a build date. Selected projects are free to the veteran.
